God’s Kindness in the Mess
Life doesn’t have to be perfect for God to show up. That’s the message Michelle Cox gently reminds us of in this episode of Divine Disruptors. As a mom of four and family relationships coach, Michelle has spent years helping others navigate the sticky, emotional parts of life. But her own story? It’s filled with moments of wrestling with faith, releasing unrealistic expectations, and learning to see God’s kindness in unexpected ways.
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by your family, your emotions, or your faith journey, this conversation is for you.
God Meets You in the Messy Middle
“God isn’t afraid of your hard. He’s there in the middle of it.” – Michelle Cox
So often, we believe we have to “get it together” before God will show up for us. But what if that’s not true? Michelle reminds us that God doesn’t wait for our lives to look clean and Instagram-worthy. He meets us right where we are; in the sticky, imperfect middle of parenting struggles, emotional overwhelm, and seasons of doubt.
She shares how she’s learning to embrace both light and dark in her journey, saying, “There’s joy and sorrow, kindness and chaos, and God uses both to shape us.”

Stop Comparing Your Family to Highlight Reels
It’s easy to scroll social media and assume other families have it all together. But Michelle cautions against holding ourselves to a standard that doesn’t exist.
“I was comparing my reality to a magical family in my head. I’ll never measure up to that AND I’m not supposed to,” she says.
Instead, she encourages us to notice the small wins in our homes:
- A child walking away instead of shouting.
- A moment of laughter at the dinner table.
- The simple act of showing up, even when it’s hard.
God’s love isn’t reserved for picture-perfect families. It’s alive in the mess, the noise, and the ordinary moments of trying again.
You Don’t Have to Carry It All
As women, we often take on too much, believing it’s our job to hold everything together. But Michelle challenges that belief:
“God never asked us to do it all. It’s holy work to ask for help and to receive it.”
Whether it’s letting a friend do your laundry during a crisis or giving yourself permission to rest, these small acts of surrender allow God, and others, to care for us in ways we didn’t know we needed.

God’s Kindness Often Looks Different Than We Expect
One of the most powerful moments in this conversation is Michelle’s story about offering a hug to a stranger who was clearly in emotional pain. That simple act became a divine appointment, a reminder that God’s kindness often comes through people and in ways we least expect.
“The miracle wasn’t what I wanted, but it was what I needed,” Michelle reflects.

Holding Onto Hope in Hard Seasons
When life feels heavy, Michelle returns to her foundational beliefs:
- God sees me.
- God loves me.
- God has a plan for me and it’s good.
Even when answers don’t come quickly, she encourages us to lean into hope. “Your relationship with God doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. It’s yours and that’s enough.”
A Final Reminder
This episode of Divine Disruptors is a tender reminder: You’re not failing because life is hard. You’re being formed.
Whether you’re navigating family struggles, emotional weight, or questions of faith, God’s kindness is woven through your story even when you can’t see it yet.
Watch the full conversation here and let Michelle’s words remind you: You don’t have to do it alone. God is already with you.
