File folders for each lesson

Assign a file folder for each week labeled with the week and reading assignment to store all you materials for the week’s lesson. Label the file folders with the week number –so in four years when we study the Old Testament again, you will not need to change the dates.

In my folder I include pictures, maps, scriptures, quotes, study guides, Conference talks, etc.–everything  that goes along with the week’s lesson. When I teach Family Home Evening, Primary, Sunday School, or Young Women’s–I include any additional resources I used to teach in each folder.

I created labels for the Old Testament Come, Follow Me lessons for 2022 and for the Doctrine and Covenants Come, Follow Me for 2021. You can download them FREE.

This tip is great for our Logical-Mathematical learners who love to have everything organized. It is also good for our Visual Learners.

Study Binder or Study Journal

It is so helpful to have one binder or study journal each year. I love having a place to record thoughts, feelings, insights, and new things I have learned all in one place.

I love having everything for my weekly study in a three-ring binder so I can add additional items as needed. My binder has dividers with a pocket so items that are not hole-punched have a home. At the end of each week, I can take everything out and transfer it to my file folder for easy storage.

There are so many options available. I have personally used a different each year so far. Here are a few favorites:

STUDY JOURNALS
  • My Computer is My Canvas— (used for the New Testament-love all the different sections: notes, truths about Jesus Christ, gospel truths, inspiring words and phrases, questions, impressions, personal application and more.
  • Don’t Miss This Journal (affiliate link)– (used for the Book of Mormon with study sheets for each week, a place for notes, daily readings, personal revelation,  weekly great things, favorite verse, and more)
  •  The Red Headed Hostess–(used her printables to create my own binder for the Doctrine and Covenants
  • My Upside Down Umbrella–(print your own journal with sections for notes, questions, insights, favorite scripture, how to liken scriptures to yourself, action area, and more.

This tip is great for our Intrapersonal learners who are self-reflective and love recording what they are learning.  It is also good for our Logical-Mathematical learners who like everything organized and in order.

Weekly artwork ready to display

Buy an extra copy of “Come, Follow Me–For Individuals and Families” each year. Using an exacto-knife, cut out the full color artwork at the end of each lesson to display each week. Trim each picture and mount on cardstock. I add a CFM label (downloads below) to the back of each picture so I can easily identify which lesson each picture goes with. I cut and mount all the pictures at the beginning of the year and store them in my weekly file folders–they are ready to go each week.

This is a beautiful visual reminder of each lesson.

There are some nice Clear Acrylic Display Stands which make it super fast to swamp out the picture each week (similar ones here on Amazon).

This tip is great for our Visual learners who like to look at artwork and see things visually. It is also good for our Logical-Mathematical Learners who like order.

Weekly Scriptures Printed

Print all weekly scriptures to display and memorize and have them ready to go in each week’s file folder.

You can create your own or there are a few options I will share (I will add more to the list as they become available).

SCRIPTURE PRINTS

This tip is great for our Visual learners who like to see things visually. It is also good for our Linguistic learners who love reading words and understanding them better. If there are reflection questions included, this would be good for our Intrapersonal learners–those who like to ponder or for Interpersonal Learners (social people) if they discuss the questions with other family members.

Keep all study material in one place

This might be the best tip–keep everything together so when it’s time to do “Come, Follow Me”, you aren’t searching for scriptures or journals or pens. Gather everything in a tote, a basket, or on a bookshelf near your favorite place to study.
