From Overwhelm to Anchored: Natalie Bogle’s Approach to Scripture Study

What if your scripture study could fit into your real life even in the messy, meaningful, motherhood moments?

That’s exactly what we explored in this week’s Seeking Jesus Summit Vault episode with my friend, Natalie Bogle. Natalie is the creator of Anchor Planner, host of the Become Anchored Podcast, and a mom of seven. She’s deeply passionate about helping women build intentional lives centered on Jesus Christ, but not in a way that feels rigid or overwhelming.

In our conversation, Natalie shares how she used to feel “blocked” when it came to scripture study. Despite her love for Christ, traditional approaches, like reading straight through chapters, often left her feeling disconnected. But instead of giving up, she found a new way to study that made all the difference: topical scripture study.

The Simplicity of Studying by Topic

Rather than pushing through a set reading plan, Natalie lets the Spirit guide her. She goes to churchofjesuschrist.org, types in a word that’s been on her heart like “gratitude,” “stillness,” or “pondering like Mary”, and then explores what comes up. From scriptures to General Conference talks, videos to articles, everything she needs is right there.

This method allows her to study topics that are relevant to her current season. Whether it’s a year-end reflection, personal revelation, or learning how to create spiritually, her study is rooted in real life and centered on becoming who God created her to be.

“I Write Talks I Never Give”

One of Natalie’s most powerful tools? Journaling.
She says: “I sit down, pray, put on the Piano Guys, and write talks I never give.”

This spiritual habit doesn’t just help her organize her thoughts, it opens the door for personal revelation. She listens for promptings, writes impressions, and lets her gospel study flow from the heart. Even though these talks aren’t meant for a pulpit, they become sacred experiences with the Spirit.

If you’ve ever wondered how to blend Christian journaling with scripture study, this conversation offers a beautiful blueprint.

Letting Music and Motherhood Be Part of the Process

Natalie’s rhythm isn’t quiet mornings in a clean house. It’s carpool lanes, dinner prep, and the hum of real life. But she’s learned something powerful:
God uses motherhood to teach us.

When she doesn’t have hours to sit and study, she thinks, ponders, and prays while doing dishes or driving her kids. She calls it “mulling” and it’s become one of her most consistent spiritual practices. The Spirit meets her in those small, in-between moments, gently guiding her study and deepening her connection with Christ.

Her story is a reminder that scripture study for busy moms doesn’t have to be perfect, it just needs to be honest, intentional, and open to the Spirit.

Faith Habits That Grow With You

One thing I love most about Natalie’s testimony is how much grace it holds. She’s not trying to “do it all.” She’s letting her gospel habits evolve as her season of life changes.

Right now, topical study is more of a once-a-month deep dive. But that study often continues in the background as she reflects throughout her week. She shares what she learns in her podcast, with her family, and through meaningful conversations, just like the one we had in this episode.

Whether you’re reading scriptures daily, listening on the go, or studying one topic over a month, Natalie’s story shows us that Jesus is present in all of it.

A Willing Hearts

You don’t need a perfect plan to study the scriptures. You just need a heart that’s willing to seek.
Natalie’s journey is a beautiful reminder that we each have a divinely designed way of connecting with Christ, and when we lean into our learning styles, listen to the Spirit, and give ourselves grace, we’ll find that He’s been there all along.
