Revitalize Your Scripture Study with this Simple Tip

Are you feeling a little STUCK? Sometimes we all get stuck doing the same things over and over again—not feeling like we are making any progress.

Whether it’s in your scripture study, your General Conference study, your study of Come Follow Me, your daily prayers, your family scripture study, or even your exercise routine, there’s a simple yet powerful solution to help you break free from that rut: CHANGE THINGS UP!

My #1 tip for getting unstuck is to embrace change. Here’s how you can apply this principle to rejuvenate your scripture study and other spiritual practices.

1. **Switch from Reading to Listening:** If you’ve been reading the scriptures for a while, try listening to them instead. There’s something profoundly different about hearing the words, and it can provide a fresh perspective on familiar verses.

2. **Change the Timing:** If you’ve been reading late at night, experiment with reading a few verses in the morning or during lunch. Different times of day can bring different levels of focus and insight.

3. **Opt for Quality over Quantity:** Instead of reading a whole chapter without gaining much from it, slow down and ponder a few verses deeply. You might be surprised by the depth of understanding you gain.

4. **Take It Outside:** If you’ve been reading the scriptures indoors, step outside. Nature can be an inspiring backdrop for spiritual reflection, allowing you to connect with God’s creations.

5. **Add Background Music:** If it’s too quiet when you read, consider playing instrumental music softly in the background. It can create a serene atmosphere and enhance your concentration.

6. **Color Your Scriptures:** If you’ve been using a single red scripture pencil to mark your scriptures, try using a rainbow of colored pencils instead. This simple change can make your scripture markings more visually engaging and memorable.

Changing things up in your scripture study isn’t just about avoiding monotony; it’s about harnessing the power of variety to stimulate your mind and deepen your spiritual experience. By adapting your approach to suit your preferences and learning style, you can infuse new life into your daily routine.

Remember, the journey of faith is a dynamic one, and sometimes, all it takes is a small adjustment to reignite your spiritual fire.
