“Becoming More in Christ: The Parable of the Slope” by Clark G. Gilbert

40 Day General Conference Challenge DAY 6

TALK: “Becoming More in Christ: The Parable of the Slope” by Clark G. Gilbert

JESUS CHRIST:

“Christ will lift us to a higher place.”

-Clark G. Gilbert

SCRIPTURE:

And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.” -Alma 7:12

INSPIRING QUOTE:

“one of the miracles of this, the Lord’s Church, is that each of us can become something more in Christ. I know of no other organization that gives its members more opportunities to serve, give back, repent, and become better people. Whether we start in abundant or difficult circumstances, let us keep our sights and our slopes pointed heavenward.”

-Clark G. Gilbert

INVITATION TO ACT:

“First, focus on where you are headed and not where you began…Second, involve the Lord in the process of lifting your slope…give back and replenish..seek out opportunities to improve through prayerful petition.”

-Clark G. Gilbert

PROMISED BLESSING:

“Our future will be determined far less by our starting point and much more by our slope. Jesus Christ sees divine potential no matter where we start.”

-Clark G. Gilbert

REFLECTION QUESTION:

  • Where am I headed? Where would I like to be next year? In five years? In 20 years?

LEARNING STYLE STUDY IDEA:

VISUAL LEARNERS: Draw a visual of the slope I have noticed so far in my life. Continue drawing where I want to be in five years, ten years, etc. and illustrating what I need to do to continue on the covenant path.

MY THOUGHTS:

It is so comforting to know that we can continually grow, progress, change and become more through our Savior, Jesus Christ. I love that the Lord knows exactly where we start along the covenant path and knows how we are progressing. So grateful for opportunities to set up sights on the Savior and move closer and closer to Him each and every day. –ERIN
