“Do What Mattereth Most” by Rebecca L. Craven

40 Day General Conference Challenge DAY 20

TALK: “Do What Mattereth Most” by Rebecca L. Craven

NAMES OF CHRIST: Lord, Christ

“A key component of trusting in the Lord is moving forward, believing He will guide us even when we don’t have all the answers.

Sisters, it’s not about the ice cream. And it’s not about doing more. It’s about doing what matters. It’s applying the doctrine of Christ in our lives as we strive to become more like Him.”

-Rebecca L. Craven

QUOTE ABOUT JESUS CHRIST:

“As we center our lives on Jesus Christ, we will be guided to do what mattereth most. And we will be blessed with spiritual strength, contentment, and with joy!”

Rebecca L. Craven

SCRIPTURE:

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

-Proverbs 3:5-6

INSPIRING QUOTE:

Being a disciple of Jesus Christ involves more than just hoping or believing. It calls for effort, movement, and commitment. It requires that we do something, being ‘doers of the word, and not hearers only.’”

Rebecca L. Craven

INVITATION TO ACT:

If the restored Church of Jesus Christ is going to come out of obscurity, we must come out of obscurity. As covenant-keeping women, we must shine our gospel light all over the world by stepping up and standing out. We do this together as daughters of God.”

Rebecca L. Craven

PROMISED BLESSING:

The more we do to stay firmly on the covenant path, the more our faith in Jesus Christ will grow. The more our faith grows, the more we will desire to repent. And the more we repent, the more we will strengthen our covenant relationship with God. That covenant relationship draws us to the temple because keeping temple covenants is how we endure to the end.”

Rebecca L. Craven

REFLECTION QUESTION:

  • How can I “boss my brain” each day?

LEARNING STYLE STUDY IDEA:

HANDS-ON LEARNERS: Eat a bowl of ice cream (or another treat) while reading and studying today.

MY THOUGHTS:

A few things really stood out to me in this talk.

First, I need to be actively doing things that bring me to Christ– I can’t just wish for me to be close to the Savior.

Second, I have control over my brain and my thoughts. I can decide if my thoughts are helping me or hurting me. If they are hurting me, I can find better thoughts to serve me.

Finally, as a woman of faith, I need to shine my light, link up with other faithful women and share goodness and light.

Do what mattereth most!
