“Fear Not: Believe Only!” by Jeffrey R. Holland

40 Day General Conference Challenge DAY 10

TALK: “Fear Not: Believe Only!” by Jeffrey R. Holland

NAMES OF CHRIST: Lord Jesus Christ, Master

“We have so much to be glad about. We have each other, and we have Him. Don’t deny us the chance to have you, I plead, in the sacred and holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ, our Master, amen.”

-Jeffrey R. Holland

QUOTE ABOUT JESUS CHRIST:

As the Light and Life of the World, the Only Begotten Son of God came to give us life by conquering death.”

Jeffrey R. Holland

SCRIPTURE:

“Brethren  (and Sisters), shall we not go on in so great a cause? Go forward and not backward. Courage, brethren; and on, on to the victory! Let your hearts rejoice, and be exceedingly glad. Let the earth break forth into singing. Let the dead speak forth anthems of eternal praise to the King Immanuel, who hath ordained, before the world was, that which would enable us to redeem them out of their prison; for the prisoners shall go free.”

Doctrine and Covenants 128:22

INSPIRING QUOTE:

“We certainly should never run away from who we are—children of the living God who loves us, who is always ready to forgive us, and who will never, ever forsake us. You are His most precious possession. You are His child, to whom He has given prophets and promises, spiritual gifts and revelations, miracles and messages, and angels on both sides of the veil.”

-Jeffrey R. Holland

INVITATION TO ACT:

Begin your search for happiness by embracing the bounty we have already received from the giver of every good gift. At precisely the moment many in the world are asking deep questions of the soul, we ought to be answering with the ‘good news’ of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Jeffrey R. Holland

PROMISED BLESSING:

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which holds aloft the mission and message of the Savior of the world, offers the most eternally significant way to both find good and do good at such a needful time.”

Jeffrey R. Holland

REFLECTION QUESTION:

  • Where can I turn for help in times of need?

LEARNING STYLE STUDY IDEA:

SOCIAL LEARNERS:  Make a list of trusted family, friends, and leaders who you can turn to in time of need. Keep this list and call up earthly help when the time comes.

MY THOUGHTS:

Don’t you love listening to Elder Holland–I love hearing the love, emotion, and passion in his voice. If you get a chance to listen to this talk- DO IT!

Hearing all his little nuggets of truth–reminders of my divine nature and eternal destiny as a beloved daughter of God. We are all beloved sons and daughters of God and our lives have value and meaning.

When life gets hard, and it will, we have been given people to help us along the covenant path. We need to ask for help and be willing to receive the love and compassion offered to us by those who love us the most.

  1. Dear Erin,
I have been teaching in RS for a year, but only just found your site a few weeks ago. I love your method, and am now using your outline, thank you! It has taken so much stress off my shoulders. I send out to the sisters the suggestion to read/listen to the talk and if possible come to the discussion with what stood out to them in terms of any of the following: Names of Christ, a Quote about Jesus, a Scripture, an Inspiring Quote, an Invitation to Act, a Promised Blessing, thoughts to ponder, even art or music that it inspired. Our last RS discussion was so good, and I loved that it wasn’t all about me taking them thru the talk.

    1. Dorian-
I’m so glad the content I am sharing has been so helpful and made your calling less stressful. It’s amazing the discussions that can happen during our lessons when the sisters have had time to think and ponder how they can apply to their personal lives. Thank you so much for sharing!
