40 Day General Conference Challenge DAY 5
TALK: “Following Jesus: Being a Peacemaker” by Elder Neil L. Andersen
NAMES OF CHRIST: Savior, Jesus Christ
“My dear brothers and sisters, as we experience sobering days of commotion, contention, and, for many, deep suffering, our hearts are filled with overwhelming gratitude for our Savior and the eternal blessings of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. We love Him and we trust Him, and we pray that we will forever follow Him.”
-Neil L. Andersen
QUOTE ABOUT JESUS CHRIST:
“Each time I read John chapter 13, I am reminded of the Savior’s perfect example as a peacemaker. Jesus lovingly washed the feet of the Apostles.”
–Neil L. Andersen
SCRIPTURE:
“He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. After that he poureth water into a basin, and began to washthe disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.”
-John 13:4-5
INSPIRING QUOTE:
“We endeavor to be ‘peaceable followers of Christ.’”
–Neil L. Andersen
INVITATION TO ACT:
“May we love Him and love one another. May we be peacemakers, that we may be called the ‘children of God.’”
-Neil L. Andersen
PROMISED BLESSING:
“As we do our part, His promise is that we will be called the ‘children of God.’ Every person on earth is the ‘offspring’ of God, but to be called the ‘children of God’ means much, much more. As we come unto Jesus Christ and make covenants with Him, we become ‘his seed’ and ‘heirs of the kingdom,’ ‘children of Christ, his sons, and his daughters.’”
-Neil L. Andersen
REFLECTION QUESTION:
- How can I be a peacemaker?
LEARNING STYLE STUDY IDEA:
SOCIAL LEARNERS: While on social media today, find something uplifting to post. Take time to comment on the posts of family and friends sharing peace, goodness and light.
MY THOUGHTS:
Jesus is the ultimate peacemaker. In every instance, He sought peace and harmony. In my interactions with others, in person or virtually, I want to find a way to spread peace and joy and love and to avoid contention.
