“God’s Love: The Most Joyous to the Soul” by Susan H. Porter

40 Day General Conference Challenge DAY 11

TALK: “God's Love: The Most Joyous to the Soul" by Sister Susan H. Porter

JESUS CHRIST:

“Our Lord and Savior did indeed die for each and every one of us. It was an expression of His infinite love for us and for His Father. ‘I know that my Redeemer lives. What comfort this sweet sentence gives! … He lives to bless [us] with his love.’”

-Susan H. Porter

SCRIPTURE:

“And the angel said unto me: Behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the Son of the Eternal Father! Knowest thou the meaning of the tree which thy father saw? And I answered him, saying: Yea, it is the love of God, which sheddeth itself abroad in the hearts of the children of men; wherefore, it is the most desirable above all things. And he spake unto me, saying: Yea, and the most joyous to the soul.” -1 Nephi 11:21-23

INSPIRING QUOTE:

“When you know and understand how completely you are loved as a child of God, it changes everything. It changes the way you feel about yourself when you make mistakes. It changes how you feel when difficult things happen. It changes your view of God’s commandments. It changes your view of others and of your capacity to make a difference.”

-Susan H. Porter

INVITATION TO ACT:

May we open our hearts to receive the pure love that God has for us and then shed forth His love in all we do and are.”

-Susan H. Porter

PROMISED BLESSING:

As we receive [God’s] love, we find greater joy in striving to love and serve as He did, becoming ‘true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ.’ God’s love is not found in the circumstances of our lives but in His presence in our lives…We can pray to have our eyes opened to see His hand in our lives and to see His love in the beauty of His creations. ”

-Susan H. Porter

REFLECTION QUESTION:

  • When was the last time I felt God’s love for me “deep in [my] soul”?

LEARNING STYLE STUDY IDEA:

NATURE LEARNERS: How do I see the hand of God and His love for me in His creations? Think more fully on the fruits of the Tree of Life.

MY THOUGHTS:

God’s complete love for us, as His children, changes everything! Joy can come to each one of us as we share God’s pure love with everyone we meet.
