40 Day General Conference Challenge DAY 16
TALK: “Simply Beautiful--Beautifully Simple" by Elder Gary E. Stevenson
JESUS CHRIST:
“Jesus Christ Himself describes that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. We should all strive to keep the gospel simple—in our lives, in our families, in our classes and quorums, and in our wards and stakes.”
-Gary E. Stevenson
SCRIPTURE:
“Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.” -Moroni 10:32
INSPIRING QUOTE:
“To receive eternal life, we must “come unto Christ, and be perfected in him.” As we come unto Christ and help others do the same, we participate in God’s work of salvation and exaltation, which focuses on divinely appointed responsibilities.”
-Gary E. Stevenson
INVITATION TO ACT:
“May we keep the gospel simple as we take upon us our divinely appointed responsibilities: To live the gospel of Jesus Christ so as to be sensitive to prompting,..To care for those in need, ..To invite all to receive the gospel..Finally, to unite families for eternity..”
–Gary E. Stevenson
PROMISED BLESSING:
“It has been said that the gospel of Jesus Christ is “simply beautiful and beautifully simple.” The world is not. It is complicated, complex, and filled with turmoil and strife. We are blessed as we exercise care not to allow complexity, so common in the world, to enter into the way we receive and practice the gospel.”
-Gary E. Stevenson
REFLECTION QUESTION:
- What can I do to keep the gospel simple for myself, my family, and those I serve?
LEARNING STYLE STUDY IDEA:
VISUAL LEARNERS: Draw my own roadmap to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father.
MY THOUGHTS:
How often do we overcomplicate living the gospel of Jesus Christ? Living the gospel is really very simple and easy–it’s to love God and to love our neighbor in all we do. It’s following the small and simple whisperings of the Holy Ghost, taking care of our family and friends, sharing the gospel in small and simple ways, and doing temple work for our families–just small and simple things!
